The new (2009) Acropolis Museum now holds most of the delicate and environmentally vulnerable statuary and marbles from the Acropolis.
On the walk back to our hotel, we walked by the Temple of Olympian Zeus and then through the National Gardens.

| When excavating the foundation for the museum, several levels of new ruins were exposed. So the museum is built on pillars above them. |

| The third floor contains the marbles removed from the Parthenon. It is a full-size representation of the Parthenon, but the friezes are displayed at eye level rather than along the top of the wall. |
